Stetson’s School of Music recently celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new Atrium — a space designed for students to gather and to create music, made possible by a generous donation from the Hollis family.
“We are grateful for your long support and generosity of this university,” President Christopher F. Roellke, PhD, told family members at the ceremony. “We join your family today in celebrating the places and programs at Stetson that you made possible — and recognize the people whose care of those places and programs moves them forward.”
Stetson students, faculty, staff and trustees also were in attendance at the event during Homecoming week.
Initially, the atrium was initially thought to be a space where students would spend time learning, studying and connecting. It’s become much more, said School of Music Dean Washington Garcia, DMA.
“When we first imagined this space, the goal was simple: to create a space that would become the heart of the school of music,” Garcia commented. “Since it opened, the atrium has exceeded every expectation. … It has created a vibrant center for connecting, learning and joy that will serve generations of students to come.”
