Values Day 2025, Nov. 13

As the end of another fall semester approaches, Stetson is poised to celebrate its traditional Values Day on Thursday, Nov. 13 — a time to pause and reflect on the university’s core values.
After years of abiding by the core values of Personal Growth, Intellectual Development and Global Citizenship, this year’s Values Day marks a historic day for the Stetson community, as a revised set of university values will be revealed at 2 p.m. in the CUB’s Warren and Barbara Carr Stetson Room.
Last year, to determine whether to revise its shared values, Stetson employed the deliberative polling method — a democratic process developed by the Deliberative Democracy Lab at Stanford University — inviting all members of the Hatter family to engage in the discussion.
“After an extensive, inclusive process, we are excited to share the revised list of values that we believe reflect the university’s shared commitments to ourselves and each other, and set a vision for our future,” stated Stetson trustee Amy Rigdon, chair of the Board of Trustees’ Student Success and Experiences Committee.
“Values Day this year culminates a year of reasoned deliberation during which the Stetson community came together on the DeLand and Gulfport campuses to articulate a revised set of core values that identify who we are and who we aspire to be,” said David Hill, PhD, professor and Department of Political Science chair.
For students, Values Day is a day to earn multiple Cultural Credits by attending an array of workshops and activities throughout the day, including a Values Day documentaries and movie screenings that evening. A free Community Lunch will be available in the Lynn Dining Commons from noon to 2 p.m.
