Celebrating Museum Month on Campus and Beyond

The Gillespie Museum and the Hand Art Center are partnering with 12 other museums and West Volusia Tourism to promote visitation this May for Museum Month — and you could be a winner simply be exploring each of them.
Participants can track their progress with a free “Museum Bingo Card.” Apart from the joy of learning about a new museum, or getting reacquainted with an old favorite, participants who complete their bingo card win a free sticker sheet featuring all participating museums plus a chance to win a special basket with goodies museum-related goodies.
How to Participate
Through June 5, pick up or download a free “Museum Bingo Card” at participating museums or the West Volusia Visitor Center (116 W. New York Ave., DeLand). Click here to learn more.
Stetson University: Gillespie Museum
The Gillespie Museum will be open from Tuesday through Fridays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., throughout May, with the new exhibit Minerals of the Tristate Mining District on display, on loan from geologists Dr. Sam Upchurch and Gary Maddox. In honor of International Museum Day, the Gillespie Museum will host special hours on May 18, along with a drop-in activity and craft.
Stetson University: Hand Art Center
The Hand Art Center will be open every day through May 9, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., for a last chance to enjoy the exhibit Reflections: Studio Art and Digital Arts Senior Exhibition. The Hand will close for the remainder of the month, but reopen temporarily on Wednesday, May 20, 2-4 p.m., for the event Behind the Scenes Experience: the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection.
