Taking flight: On April 1, in a moment that transcended the softball matchup between the Hatters the Florida Gators, the action stopped at Stetson’s Patricia Wilson Field for the launch of NASA’s Artemis II rocket. Just a short distance from Florida’s Space Coast, Stetson’s campus provided a unique vantage point for the launch. The media coverage was widespread. Here’s a sampling: Sports Illustrated, NBC Sunday TODAY With Willie Geist, Fox News, MSN, The U.S. Sun, Boston.com, New York Post and GoHatters.com.
The launch was the highlight of Stetson-related coverage throughout the spring, which included numerous other media reports.

Natalie Al-Shihabi, a May graduate who majored in Aquatic and Marine Biology, authored “Preserve land for future generations through Florida Forever” in The Invading Sea.

Former Hatters baseball player Jackson Olson was chronicled by media such as the Stamford Advocate in “Savannah Bananas star and CT native Jackson Olson headed to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 35.”
Jason Evans, PhD, professor of Environmental Science and Studies, appeared in numerous media outlets, including Treasure Coast Newspapers’ “Rising temperatures endanger human health, wildlife and aquatic life.”
Associate Professor of Management Randall Croom, PhD, was quoted in the article “Florida’s 800,000 Hungry Kids: Why 1 in 6 Florida Kids Face Hunger in 2026,” published by Newsbreak. Croom is Stetson’s winner this year of the William Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching.

The cultural preservation work of Dengke Chen, MFA, associate professor of Digital Arts, was featured on Spectrum News 13 in “Stetson associate professor builds a digital bridge to his Chinese roots.”
The championship efforts of student Braeden Kopec, leader of the Stetson Surf Club, was highlighted in Hometown News’ “Ponce Inlet surfer wins second straight collegiate title.” A similar story appears on Stetson Today.
