Stetson University is launching a new Master of Human Resource Management (MHR) program, preparing students to lead in a workforce increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, with AI woven into nearly every course and taught as a dedicated subject.

The online MHR program, housed in Stetson’s School of Business Administration, includes a required course, Human Resource Management and AI, along with an AI module built into every core class. The focus isn’t on a single software tool. Instead, students learn to use AI broadly, including both AI agents and large language models, recognize when AI is the right tool for the job and when it isn’t, and build a workforce that pairs AI with creativity and critical thinking.

‘Evolving Field of Study’

AI already plays a significant role in HR practice today, shaping recruitment, training and development, and HR data analytics. Stetson’s program is designed to keep pace with that shift and beyond.

“Understanding how to use AI as well as its limitations will be important for employees to be successful in their career,” said Sean Newman, DBA, director of the Master of Human Resource Management program. “This is an evolving field of study, so our curriculum will remain flexible and adjust as new advancements are made.”

While national adoption of AI in HR education is still taking shape, Stetson’s MHR stands out closer to home.

“We will be the only MHR program in Central Florida with AI as an emphasized learning objective of the program,” Newman said.

Offered Fully Online

The Master of Human Resource Management is offered fully online and is built with flexibility for working adults in mind, combining live online sessions with prerecorded lectures. The curriculum content is aligned with, and approved by, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the program includes an in-person kick-off session each year that allows incoming students to meet faculty and build their professional network. The program requires no GMAT or GRE for admission. Coursework spans 10 classes and 30 credits, covering strategic human resource management, talent management, total rewards, law and labor relations, managerial decision analytics, and strategic HR leadership, in addition to the dedicated AI course.

The program is designed for working professionals, whether they are current HR practitioners, business leaders, or those looking to move into the field, and prepares graduates to align their organization’s workforce with business objectives while keeping pace with the tools reshaping the profession. Stetson University also offers an undergraduate major and minor in human resource management.
