LUHANSK PASTOR KILLED IN UKRAINE

Interfax-Religiia, 24 November 2014

The leader of the "Living Word" neo-Pentecostal congregation from Luhansk, Sergei Reuta, was killed near the Donetsk airport.

The cause of death was a direct hit from an artillery shell, the Sectarian Ukraine website reported on Monday.

At the start of the war in the Donbass, S. Reuta sent his wife and three children to Kiev and joined himself as a volunteer in the Ukrainian Dnepr-1 battalion. He served in the village of Peski, the only residential area from which communication with the Donetsk airport was established.

S. Reuta explained his decision to go to war by his receiving a revelation from above. Four of his followers have followed their pastor into Dnepr-1.  (tr. by PDS, posted 30 November 2014)

[Ed. note:  An article in New York Times on 28 November mentioned Reuta under his nom de guerre, Padre.]
