ANOTHER ORTHODOX CHURCH ROBBED IN WESTERN UKRAINE
Interfax-Religiia, 16 December 2014
The Holy Protection Orthodox church of the village of Strelsk in Rovno province of Ukraine has been robbed.
The perpetrators stole donations of parishioners, which were intended for painting the church, the press service of the Sarny diocese reports.
"In robbing and desecrating churches, you deprive them of their full-blown lifeāpure prayer. You bring pain to the hearts of believing people. You forget that your family in the main are Christians," Metropolitan of Sarny and Polesskoe Anatoly appealed to the criminals, urging them to return the stolen goods.
He noted that in the 16 years since the day of the foundation of the diocese, more than 100 church parishes have been registered in it. In this period, more than 100 new church buildings have been constructed "which were built in difficult conditions in the present financial instability in our state and the poverty of our parishioners."
As had been reported, the other day in Rovno province another church, St. Nicholas', in the village of Mirnoe of Kostopol district was robbed. (tr. by PDS, posted 17 December 2014)
