DOCUMENT: UKASE OF PRIMATE OF APTs, METROPOLITAN OF MOSCOW AND ALL-RUSSIA VITALY
On the creation of a commission for preparing canonization (church glorification) of Archpriest Gleb Yakunin
"All martyrs should be honored and it is necessary to open readily the lips and ears and mind for everyone in order to speak and to hear something willingly about them, and all the rest to honor below their deeds," the holy martyr Cyprian of Carthage teaches us.
In light of the fact that the late Father Archpriest Gleb Yakunin already during his life was honored by many of the faithful as a holy confessor, and also:
--he did not profess any heresy condemned heretofore by councils or the fathers (Laodicea 9,34);
--and on the contrary he was a fighter even to death with Sergianism, which is condemned by several churches as heresy;
--and in the capacity of such a confessor he accepted, among others, such lights of Orthodoxy as St. Filaret (Voznesensky), Fr Serafim Rose, and others;
--and since thanks to his petitions the glorification of Russian Newmartyrs and Confessors was achieved;
--and for his confession he suffered persecution, torture, and imprisonment from atheist authorities and Sergians;
--and especially taking into account that the disregard of confessors falls under the anathema against Sergianism (Bishops' Council of ROCOR, 2004, recognized by APTs) immediately,
therefore because of the above
to create a commission for preparing materials for church glorification of Archpriest Gleb Yakunin as a holy confessor, for their subsequent presentation for consideration by a sobor of the Apostolic Orthodox Church (APTs).
