SCHISMATICS TRY TO SEIZE ORTHODOX CHURCH IN WEST UKRAINE
Interfax-Religiia, 3 February 2015
Representatives of the self-proclaimed Kiev patriarchate made an attempt to seize a church building of the canonical church in the village of Chudnitsa, Goshcha district of Rovno province in Ukraine.
The attackers blocked the entrances and pushed and insulted believers. In addition, the schismatics tried to shut the building with their own locks, but parishioners did not permit them to do this, the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox church reports on Tuesday.
The conflict was brought to an end after the church was sealed until the rendering of a judicial decision on the question of ownership of the building.
"Despite the display of overt aggression and illegal actions of the representatives of the uncanonical patriarchate, the local authorities support the schismatics, including the organization of a 'referendum' about the 'legal transfer' of the church building to the Kiev patriarchate, which they are planning to conduct on 7 February 2015," the report says.
