IMAM IN PENZA PROVINCE FINED FOR STORING EXTREMIST MATERIAL IN MOSQUE

The prosecutor's office of Spassky district of Penza province, along with UFSB, discovered the storage of an extremist brochure in the building of a mosque in the city of Nizhny Lomov.
An order was issued for opening a case against the imam on the basis of article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law (possession of extremist materials included in the published federal list of extremist materials for purposes of mass distribution), the press service of the district prosecutor's office reported on Tuesday.
A Spassky district court found the imam guilty and assessed a punishment in the form of a fine of 2,000 rubles. The extremist material was confiscated. (tr. by PDS, posted 8 April 2015)
