Jehovah's Witnesses' literature confiscated in Jewish region

LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN BIROBIDZHAN DISCOVER CASE OF ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION OF RELIGIOUS LITERATURE

In order to prevent the distribution on the territory of the city of Birobidzhan of printed publications included in the federal list of extremist materials, personnel of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (UMVD) of Russia for the Jewish Autonomous Province, along with personnel of the UFSB of Russia for the Jewish Autonomous Province and the MOMVD of Russia "Birobidzhansky," organized an inspection of the activity of one of the religious organizations in the city of Birobidzhan.

 

During the inspection a case of the possession of printed material included in the federal list of extremist materials, for the purpose of subsequent distribution, was revealed and documented. On the basis of this case, an administrative report on article 20.29 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations of Law [KRFAP] was drawn up and the literature was taken out of civil circulation.

 

Previously, an administrative report on article 20.2 of the KRFAP was drawn up with regard to the leader of this religious organization, for violation of the established procedure for conducting a meeting, rally, demonstration, march or picketing and a warning about the impermissibility of distributing extremist literature was issued as well.
