LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES PREVENT MARCH AND PRAYER OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN KRASNODAR TERRITORY
Interfax-Religiia, 20 July 2015
Law enforcement agencies halted a mass event of Jehovah's Witnesses in a stadium in the city of Krymsk, the press service of the prosecutor's office of Krasnodar territory told Interfax on Monday.
"In July, on the football field of the city of Krymsk, the international religious organizations of the Jehovah's Witnesses organized a worship service. The illegally conducted public event was halted by the actions of the Krymsk inter-district prosecutor's office and operational subdivisions of the FSB and MVD of Russia," the news agency's interlocutor said.
It was panned to hold the event in the rented stadium, with more than 1,500 persons participating; it was preceded by a mass march.
In violation of rules of federal and regional legislation, the organizer of the religious meeting did not inform the administration of the Krymsk district of the planned public event," the prosecutor's office noted.
It was established that officials of the Krymsk district knew about the planned unsanctioned meeting and march but they failed to fulfill their duties to prevent them. (tr. by PDS, posted 20 July 2015)
