Defection of Moscow monastery in western Ukraine

UAPTs RECEIVES UPTsMP MONASTERY INTO ITS JURISDICTION

On 21 August 2015, Bishop Viktor Bed, the ruling bishop of the Mukachevo and Carpathian dioceses of UAPTs [Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church], received Archimandrite Nikolai, the abbot of the St. Nicholas diocesan monastery of UPTsMP in the village of Chinadievo, Religiia v Ukraine reports with reference to the website of the Carpathian diocese.

 

During the meeting, questions of the transfer of the monastery from the jurisdiction of the Mukachevo diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow patriarchate into the Carpathian diocese of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church were considered.

 

As a result of the meeting, a bishop's decision concerning the reception of the St. Nicholas diocesan monastery in the village of Chinadievo (Sanatornaia St., 89a; 896) of the Mukachevo district of the Transcarpathian province into the Carpathian diocese of UAPTs was made, and the corresponding order about appointing Archimandrite Nikolai the abbot of this monastery was published.

 

Bishop Viktor thanked Father Nikolai for many years of service to the church and he presented to him two pectoral crosses with decorations.

 

The dean of the Mukachevo-Uzhgorod deanery of the UAPTs, Archimandrite Diodor, also participated in the meeting. (tr. by PDS, posted 21 August 2015)
