Jehovah's Witnesses congregation challenged in North Ossetia

COURT GRANTS PETITION AGAINST JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN BESLAN

Osetiia Times, 11 May 2016

The prosecutor's office of the Pravoberezhny district of North Ossetia, in the course of oversight activities, established the presence of inconsistencies between the charter of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses in the city of Beslan and legislation.

Said circumstances served as the basis for the district prosecutor's submitting a representation against the leadership of the religious organization with the demand to bring the charter into conformity with existing legal standards.

Because of the refusal to take action to introduce changes into the charter of the organization, the Pravoberezhny district prosecutor's office challenged through court procedures the inaction of the Jehovah's Witnesses in the city of Beslan.

By decision of the Pravoberezhny district court, the petition of the prosecutor's office was reviewed and granted and the inaction of the council of the religious organization in failing to meet the requirements of the prosecutor's office was ruled to be illegal.

The court ordered the council of the local religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses in the city of Beslan to enter additions into the charter of the organization, the official website of the oversight agency of the republic reports. (tr. by PDS, posted 12 May 2016)

CHARTER ON THE BASIS OF WHICH JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN BESLAN WERE REGISTERED SUDDENLY CEASED TO COMPLY WITH LAW

jw-ru.blogspot.ru, 11 May 2016

News media still have not reported the details of how specifically the charter of the religious organization does not comply with legislation. As far as is known, the charter of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, before its registration, underwent careful verification of compliance with the constitution and a number of laws by lawyers both for the side of Jehovah's Witnesses and for the side of the registration agency. At the moment of registration and over the course of many years, the charter fully complied with legislation. And suddenly, in connection with the continuing and recently expanding campaign of persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses, the charter has ceased to comply with existing legislation. For Jehovah's Witnesses, this report is not so much news, but it is consistent with the pattern of their persecution for religious identity. (tr. by PDS, posted 12 May 2015)
