Jehovah's Witnesses headquarters distances itself from "extremist" literature

PUBLIC STATEMENT OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN RUSSIA

Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, 24 February 2017


In compliance with current legislation about combating extremist activity, the centralized religious organization "Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia" makes a public declaration that it does not have anything to do with indicators of extremism and incidents set forth in judicial actions regarding bringing to administrative accountability and also finding local religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses, that are members of its structure, to be extremist.

 

The religious organization "Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia" has not commissioned local religious organizations, that are members of its structure, and also individual believers to distribute, store, or to use in any other way literature, after it has been entered into the Federal List of Extremist Materials.

 

The program of worship services of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia does not include the study of informational materials that have been prohibited by law.

 

The religious organization "Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia" does not agree with actions by persons who bring into Jehovah's Witnesses' houses of worship publications that have been included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials. In every case of plants of forbidden literature, believers have filed statements with law enforcement agencies requesting that the guilty be held accountable. (tr. by PDS, posted 28 February 2017)
