HOUSE OF WORSHIP THAT SERVED THOUSANDS OF ST. PETERSBURG BELIEVERS CONFISCATED AND SEALED
Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, 14 December 2017
On 14 December 2017, approximately 40 personnel of various agencies, including the emergency situation ministry, seized and later sealed the enormous house of worship near Metro station "Pionerskaya" in St. Petersburg. Details are being clarified.
This building, with a sign "Jehovah's Witnesses Hall of Congresses," was ceremonially opened in September 1999 on Kolomyazh Prospect. In one of the specialist journals, a brief architectural design survey of this structure was published, as well as an interview with its architect, Helenios Osmo Ilmari.
One archive video, of 11 April 2017, shows how believers assembled for the final worship service in this building. (tr. by PDS, posted 14 December 2017)
