Portal-Credo.ru, 28 December 2017
The military commissioner of Khabarovsk territory, Nikolai Glinin, in an interview published on 27 December by the news agency "Khabarovsk territory today" declared that applications from members of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, which is forbidden in the RF, for performance of alternative service on the basis of religious reasons will not be taken into account and they will perform military service along with the other conscripts.
To a question from a correspondent of the News Agency KhKS: "Will the decision of the Russian Supreme Court on the ban of the sect of Jehovah's Witnesses affect the possibility of young adherents of this teaching performing alternative service?" the official answered: "There is no sect—there are no problems! If a conscript declares his desire to perform alternative service, citing his membership in this organization that is forbidden in Russia, we will not even consider such a request."
