RELIGIOUS
ORGANIZATION
FINED FOR LACK OF SIGN ON DOOR IN KALININGRAD
Novyi
Kaliningrad,
15 January 2018
The
central
district court of Kaliningrad fined the religious organization
"Christian
Center of Revival" 30,000 rubles for the lack of a sign with its
name on
the entrance doors. The organization was convicted of violation
of legislation
on freedom of conscience and freedom of religious confession and
on religious
associations (article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative
Violations of Law of
the RV; in this case the issue is part 3 of this article).
The
director of
the center, Irina Filiava, explained to Novyi Kaliningrad that
the sign with
the name of the church was hung on the interior side of the
door, but the
district police commissioner thought that it should be on the
outside and composed
an indictment of an administrative violation of law.
"We
were
sure that we were not violating anything and were fulfilling all
requirements
of the law. After all, we are not there continuously, but only
at the time of a
service. The sign was always there, but it seems that during
services it must
be outside," Filiaeva said.
She explained that she intends to appeal the fine at a higher instance. At the present time the sign with the name of the organization is hanging on the door. (tr. by PDS, posted 5 February 2018)
