Jehovah's Witness asks for postponement of trial

THIRTY-FIVE DAY RECESS DECLARED IN HEARINGS IN CASE OF DANISH JEHOVAH'S WITNESS IN OREL

Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, 28 February 2018

On 26 February 2018, the Zheleznodorozhny district court of the city of Orel granted a defense petition and gave Dennis Christensen additional time for familiarizing himself with materials of the case. Previously the Soviet district court of the city of Orel substantially restricted his right to this, giving him only two weeks for familiarizing himself with 2,500 pages of documents in a language that is not his native tongue.

The consul of the Royal Embassy of Denmark in Moscow, Jean Christina Demirchi, is in Orel in connection with the hearings.

The hearing in the Zheleznodorozhny district court of Orel will continue on 3 April 2018 at 10:30 a.m. (tr. by PDS, posted 1 March 2018)
