PARUBY SUGGESTS TRANSFERRING CATHEDRAL OF HOLY WISDOM TO CHURCH BEING CREATED BY CONSTANTINOPLE
Interfax-Religiia, 3 December 2018
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Paruby has suggested using the Kiev cathedral of Holy Wisdom for worship services of the "United Local Church" that is being created.
"I suggest that for services of the new local Orthodox church and for the ministry of priests the cathedral of Holy Wisdom in Kiev could be used, as the most important and key cathedral of Ukrainian Orthodoxy," A. Paruby said on Monday at a session of the coordinating council of leaders of fractions, committees, and groups of parliament.
The speaker noted that this question requires discussion, including among the people's deputies.
As was reported, on 18 October the Verkhovna Rada adopted a presidential law transferring to the Constantinople patriarchate for its use the church of St. Andrew, which is in the inventory of the Kiev Sophia Reserve. (tr. by PDS, posted 3 December 2018)
