Religiia v Ukraine, 13 December 2018

On 13 December, on the feast day of the apostle Andrew the First-called, Metropolitan of Gaul Emmanuel arrived at the church of St. Andrew in order to participate in the first service of the Constantinople patriarchate in Kiev. Believers of the UPTsMP, UPTsKP, and UAPTs, worshipped with him, Religiia v Ukraine reports, with reference to Hromadske.ua.

Two agents of the ecumenical patriarchate, vladykas Illarion and Daniel, also arrived at the church of St. Andrew, where previously the UAPTs had conducted the service. They arrived at 9:20 a.m. and the service began at 9:30.

The service was conducted in three languages: Ukrainian, Church Slavonic, and Greek. Representatives of three branches of Ukrainian Orthodoxy—the UPTsMP, UPTsKP and believers of the UAPTs--came to the church of St. Andrew. In particular, among the clergy were two priests of the UPTsMP, the Telegram channel "United Local" reports.

One of the participants in the divine service, Maria, described for journalists: "I came because today in the festive day of Andrew the First-called and I wanted to participate in such an historic event. As a former parishioner of the UPTsMP, and subsequently of the UPTsKP, I desire the creation of a united local church in Ukraine. I would wish for the recognition (of the church), so many years of wanderings of the church of the Kiev patriarchate, I would wish for worldwide recognition."

On 15 December, Metropolitan Emmanuel is supposed to head up the unification council of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine. (tr. by PDS, posted 13 December 2018)
