IN SOUTHERN URALS BAPTIST FINED FOR ILLEGAL EVANGELISM

In Kopeisk, the leader of a local house of worship for Baptists was fined for evangelism, the press service of the Cheliabinsk prosecutor's office reports.
The agency established that the organization is operating without registration.
"The departmental register of registered noncommercial organizations of the regional department of the Russian Ministry of Justice does not have information about the aforesaid religious organization. Religious organizations and groups are not registered at the actual site of location," the report says.
Information about the religious teachings was circulated through the internet and news media. The court fined the director of the house of worship 5,000 rubles. (tr. by PDS, posted 18 December 2018)

The prosecutor's office of the city of Kopeisk discovered the violation of legislation on freedom of conscience and religious associations in the activity of a religious organization "House of worship of the International Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians (Baptists),"
It was established that on the territory of the Kopeisk city district, a religious organization is conducting activity without registration with the authorized agency and without giving the respective information about the start of activity.
The departmental register of registered noncommercial organizations of the district administration of the Russian Ministry of Justice does not contain information about the aforesaid religious organization. Religious organizations and groups are not registered at the actual site of location.
For purposes of drawing citizens into membership of the religious association, activity was conducted by means of circulating information about religious teaching among persons who are not adherents of the religion, with the use of mass media, the internet network, and other means.
The prosecutor's office of the city opened a case of administrative violation of law as stated in part 4 of article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law of the RF (conducting missionary activity with violation of the requirements of legislation on freedom of conscience and freedom of religious confession and on religious associations).
By order of a magistrate judge of judicial district No.3 of the city of Kopeisk, the leader of the religious organization was held accountable in the form of a fine of 5,000 rubles. (tr. by PDS, posted 18 December 2018)
