CABINET OF MINISTERS RESPONDS TO PUTIN'S STATEMENT ABOUT "DEFENSE" OF ORTHODOX BELIEVERS IN UKRAINE
RISU, 2 February 2019
The vice-prime minister for matters of European and Euro-atlantic integration of Ukraine, Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze, reminded Putin about the last "defense" of citizens of Ukraine. "Very alarming statements have arrived from Moscow and the Russian Orthodox Church. The last time that Vladimir Putin decided to defend the civilian population of our state, armed invasion began."
Klimpush-Tsintsadze noted that Ukraine will not permit the exploitation of Ukrainian citizens in political games.
"Freedom of religious confession is completely defended in Ukraine. We will not permit the Russian Federation to exploit believers in the political games of the Kremlin," the politician wrote on a social network. This was reported by Ukraina Nova. (tr. by PDS, posted 4 February 2019)
