NUMBER OF PARISHES TRANSFERRING TO PTsU APPROACHES 2% OF UPTsMP PATISHES—FRESH STATISTIC FROM UKRAINIAN OFFICIAL
No fewer than 204 parishes have transferred from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPTsMP) into the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PTsU) within one and a half months. This was stated on 4 February by the representative of the Ukrainian president in parliament, Irina Lutsenko, a people's deputy from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko, during a session of the coordinating council of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, in a broadcast carried by television channel 112 Ukraina.
"The statistic and intentions of parishes indicate that by the end of this year thousands of parishes will have transferred," Irina Lutsenko predicted.
As of 15 January of this year, Irina Lutsenko reported the transfer of 70 UPTsMP parishes into the PTsU. The total number of real parishes of the UPTsMP is estimated by experts in the range of 12,000 to 13,000. (tr. by PDS, posted 5 February 2019)
