Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky greeted everybody for the holiday of the Baptism of Rus and urged primates of the churches to dialogue for uniting Ukrainians.
"I greet everybody for the Day of the Baptism of Kievan Rus-Ukraine! This historic event became a powerful stimulus for the unification of the ancient state and for its strength and development. I call primates of the churches to dialogue so that faith will unite and not divide Ukrainians. In unity is our strength and our future!" Zelensky wrote in his Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.
The day before, 27 July, there was a holiday procession of the cross of believers of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the center of Kiev in which, by estimates of the organizers, 300,000 persons from all of Ukraine assembled. On 28 July, the day of the holiday, the new church that was created last year with the support of Constantinople and the previous Ukrainian administration conducted its own procession.
