COURT EXTENDS DETENTION IN PRISON OF FOUR CHRISTIANS IN DAGESTAN
Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, 30 July 2019
Jehovah's Witnesses Maria Karpova, Arsen Abdullaev, Anton Dergalev, and Marat Abdulgalimov are imprisoned in a Makhachkala SIZO. On 25 July 2019, Judge Dalgat Gadziev of the Soviet district court of Makhachkala ordered to extend their confinement until 27 September 2019 despite the fact that the only charge against them is their religious confession.
The believers wound up in prison after a raid on believers' homes that was conducted in Dagestan on 1 June 2019.
Dozens of Makhachkalans arrived for the hearing
in the court
to support their friends. All four are keenly aware that they did
nothing bad
or illegal, and they are maintaining a positive attitude. (tr. by
