METROPOLITAN
EPIFANY
NAMES CHURCHES THAT MAY RECOGNIZE P.Ts.U. IN 2020
The
Orthodox Church
of Ukraine (PTsU) may be officially recognized by several
churches in 2020.
This was reported by Metropolitan Epifany in an interview with
Priamoi, LVua
states.
He said
that those
are churches, which are publicly discussing it. "Both the
Romanian,
Cypriot, Bulgarian and Georgian. That is, they are now coming
around. And I believe
that they should join the process of recognition of the
autocephaly of the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church," Metropolitan Epifany reported.
He
emphasized that in
this process a struggle will be waged; it is being waged even
now.
"Because,
after suffering
defeat, we may recall the processes here within the country that
occurred on
the eve of the Unification Council. You heard from many sources
that there
never will be unification, that Ukraine never will receive a
tomos and
recognition. The very same thing is happening now in the
international
arena," the PTsU primate explained.
We
recall, the PTsU
was created at a Unification Council in Kievan Sophia on 15
December 2018 and
Metropolitan Epifany was elected its primate. A tomos,
confirming autocephaly,
was delivered to Epifany by Patriarch Bartholomew in
Constantinople on 6
January 2019. The PTsU became the fifteenth church in the
diptych of the local
Orthodox churches of the world. (tr. by PDS, posted 10 January
