The head
of the State
Duma's Committee on Legislation and State Structure, Pavel
Krasheninnikov, does
not support the suggestion to enshrine in the constitution of
the RF the
concept of marriage as the union of a man and a woman and the
mention of God.
"The
concept of
marriage is set forth in the Family Code. It seems to me
unnecessary (to insert
it) in the constitution," Krasheninnikov said, responding to an
Interfax
question on Tuesday.
The
lawmaker said
that he also opposes mention of God in the text of the
Fundamental Law.
"My
point of
view is that God, if he exists in spirit, then he exists.
Independent of
whether he will be inscribed in the text of the law or not," the
committee
head noted.
He added
that
"there are other texts that we can abide by." (tr. by PDS,
