INJECTED INTO THE LEGS AND STOMACH." JEHOVAH'S WITNESS ARRESTED
IN CHITA,
TAKEN INTO THE WOODS, AND TORTURED WITH ELECTRIC SHOCK

On 10
February, in
Chita and its environs, widespread searches were conducted in
homes of
Jehovah's Witnesses. Three persons were arrested immediately
after the search,
and they came to the home of a fourth, Vadim Kutsenko, at night.
He was thrown
into a Bukhanka van, taken into the woods, and treated with
electric shock in
order to
extract
confessions.
How long this continued, he does not remember. After this,
Kutsenko was taken
to an investigator. The lawyer Artur Ganin told The Insider
about this.
Vadim
Alexandrovich
was arrested late in the evening, at 23:00 local time. At that
time he was in
his mother-in-law's apartment. During interrogation, Vadim
Alexandrovich told
me that he was taken into the woods in a UAZ Bukhanka vehicle
and there they
began torturing him. They used a chock hold and at the time
injected current with
a stun gun. They injected the current into his legs and stomach.
They beat him
about the face and spine. Vadim Alexandrovich had a neck injury
and he
immediately told them about it and asked that they not beat him
there. Because
of this injury he even went before a military board and
therefore he has a
"white" draft card.
They
threw him out of
the vehicle and kicked him. They threatened that they would do
everything
possible to send him to prison and they talked rudely and
insultingly. They
tried to get confessions out of him and to force him to admit
his guilt. When
they realized that he was strong and would not break, they took
him to the
investigator. There he reported the tortures, but the
investigator did not
respond in the right way and he sent him, with troops, to the
temporary holding
cell. Earlier, in the office, these troops reported that they
are serving in
the Russian Guard. That is, they could actually take him a
second time into the
woods and continue to abuse him. Today they will file complaints
and reports.
The
other detainees
were threatened. They said to one: "Your wife will be raped and
we will
record it all on video and show you."
They are
being
subjected to this only because they are Jehovah's Witnesses.
