ADMITTED TO LITURGY IN ST. ISAAC'S

Metropolitan
of St. Petersburg
and Ladoga Vladimir on Sunday performed the divine liturgy in
St. Isaac's
cathedral in the presence of about 20 persons, the press service
of the state
monument museum reported to Interfax.
"There
were
approximately fewer than 20 persons, including ministers (clergy
and religious
personnel), representatives of the city administration, and
custodians. There
were no ordinary parishioners. People arrived after ten o'clock,
but they were
told that, according to an order of the government of St.
Petersburg
(attendance was forbidden—IF)," the St. Isaac's State Monument
Museum
reported.
The
director of the
museum, Yury Mudrov, was not at the service.
A
broadcast of the
divine liturgy was arranged on the page of the parish of St.
Isaac's cathedral
on the social network VKontakte.
The
message of the
press service of the St. Petersburg diocese says that on 29
March Metropolitan
of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofey led the divine liturgy
in St. Isaac's
cathedral.
"His
Eminence
concelebrated with the secretary of the diocesan administration,
Archpriest
Sergei Kuksevich, sacristan Archpriest Aleksei Isaev, and other
clergymen. The
chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Viacheslav Makarov,
worshipped at the
divine liturgy," the diocese reports.
Earlier,
St.
Petersburg authorities forbade visiting religious organizations,
but it
permitted services without the flock. The Legal Department of
the R.P.Ts.
declared that Smolny's order violates the constitution of the
