Work environments that prioritize Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) efforts have been statistically proven to increase productivity, innovation, safety, and happiness. Strengthening individual and organizational leadership capabilities and increasing understanding on how to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging is essential.
Building an inclusive culture requires both learning and unlearning, and this course will actively help diverse adult learners grow forward with critical awareness and expanded skill sets.
Professor and Endowed Chair of Social Justice Education at Stetson University
Dr. Rajni Shankar-Brown is an internationally renowned Professor and the Jessie Ball duPont Endowed Chair of Social Justice Education at Stetson University, as well as the recipient of Stetson’s most prestigious awards — the McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Hand Award for Distinguished Faculty Achievement. She serve as the Vice-President for the National Coalition for the Homeless and founder of the Acts of Kindness and Justice Movement. She is currently helping to lead a national campaign to end and prevent homelessness, specifically overseeing education and racial equity public policy. She was awarded Florida PDK International Educator of the Year, the Engaged Scholarship Faculty Award by the Florida Campus Compact, Equity Leadership Award by Volusia County Schools, Civic Engagement Leadership Award by Girl Scouts of Citrus, the Inclusive Leadership Award by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Dr. Shankar-Brown has presented and facilitated professional learning workshops around the globe, as well as published in leading peer-reviewed journals and books. Her current series with Information Age Publishing includes two edited books, 1) Bending the Arc Towards Justice: Equity-Focused Practices for Educational Leaders and 2) Re-Envisioning Education: Affirming Diversity and Advancing Social Justice. In addition, her recently published collection of poetry Tuluminous (2020) has been praised as “a marvelous and meaningful testimony of the power of language to heal and transform” by the Presidential Inaugural Poet, Richard Blanco. Her work has been featured on hundreds of media outlets including CBS, NBC, CNN, Seattle Times, and The Washington Post.
This course will be presented over four weeks through four 2-hour sessions facilitated by Dr. Rajni Shankar-Brown, an award-winning educator and internationally renowned expert in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
This certification course is built for working professionals; all sessions will meet on Thursday evenings 6-8 p.m. Eastern Time. Each session will include interactive learning activities and resources.

*Participants will leave the program with a solid understanding of key equity, diversity, and inclusion concepts and identify 2-3 specific action steps to gain immediate traction in their work environment. In addition, participants will have the opportunity for a 30-minute personal coaching session and receive extended learning resources.
