May 12- Stetson Law to present free tips for protecting consumers

Gulfport, Fla. – Stetson University College of Law’s People’s Law School will present tips on avoiding scams and frauds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18. The program will be the first of the People’s Law School series at the new Tampa Law Center, 1700 N. Tampa St. The program is free and open to the public.
Stetson Law Professor Nick Cox will speak. The event is titled “Consumer Protection Forum – How to Not Become a Victim of Scams and Frauds.”
Professor Cox is the Consumer Protection Fellow at Stetson Law. He is chairman of the board of directors of Seniors vs. Crime. Since joining Stetson last year, he has worked with numerous state and federal agencies, giving lectures and speeches to the public and law enforcement personnel about fraud and protection against consumer crimes.
The People’s Law School is a continuing series of free programs designed to provide information about legal issues of general interest. The series is not intended to offer legal advice to individuals or groups, or to serve as a substitute for legal counsel provided by a personal attorney.
