Professor Carolan spoke at the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, in Denver, on "Potential Impact of Prop 8 on the California [Gay] Tourism Industry: A Preliminary Qualitative Investigation."
Luz Nagle
Earlier this month, Professor Nagle attended the International Bar Association conference in Madrid. In addition to having organized several sessions as the co-chair of the criminal law section, she also spoke on two panels: one on gangs as an international security threat and another on corporate responsibility in human trafficking. She also participated in an international rule of law session with Judge Garzon of Spain and other prominent international jurists. She also will speak at the ABA's 19th Annual Review of the Field of National Security Law in mid-November.

On October 9th, Professor Podgor spoke at a Symposium at Southwestern University Law School on the topic of the Exclusionary Rule. On October 16, she spoke on a panel at the 4th Annual ABA Securities Fraud Conference related to blogging and securities fraud.
Michael Allen
Professor Allen spoke last week at a cermonial session of the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. The session was held to mark the 20th anniversary of the Court's first convening. It was held in the cermonial courtroom for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. There were about 150 guests in attendance, including the Chief Judges of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. The Court also officially recognized Stetson and students Meg O'Neill and Chase Hattaway for outstanding perfrormance in connection with the recently concluded moot court competition.
