Stetson hosts Turkey Azerbaijan Day

LL.M. in International Law student Gulayat Hajiyeva and the International law Society coordinated Turkey Azerbaijan Day March 2 on Stetson University’s Gulfport campus.
Hajiyeva, orginally from Azerbaijan, introduced a panel including Turkish Consul General Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Tennessee Technological University Professor and Secretary General of the EU Turkey Civic Commission Michael M. Gunter, and Azerbaijani consular officer Emil Safarov.
Gunter is an expert on Kurds in Turkey and Iraq and has written several books on the Kurdish struggle. J.R. Swanegan, director of international programs at Stetson, introduced the panel.
Stetson’s Turkey Azerbaijan Day panel presented both countries’ cultural and historical viewpoints and explored peaceful solutions for the current issues effecting both Turkey and Azerbaijan.
LL.M. in International Law student Gulayat Hajiyeva organized the panel along with the International Law Society.
