Peter Fitzgerald

Professor Peter Fitzgerald has just been named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB), the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State (ECA), and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).

The Roster is a list of former U.S. Fulbright Scholars and other faculty or professionals who are eligible to be matched by CIES with incoming two to six week project requests from overseas academic institutions for Fulbright Specialists in various fields. Being selected for inclusion on the Specialist Roster is a way in which Fulbright “alumni” can continue to support and participate in international scholarly exchanges. Through a peer review process, CIES builds lists of qualified Specialist candidates for each of twenty-five eligible disciplines, and facilitates matching Specialist candidates with particular project requests. Whether a Roster candidate receives one of these short term grants depends greatly on the specific kinds of requests that CIES receives from overseas host institutions, but Professor Fitzgerald will now remain an eligible candidate on the Roster for the next five years.
