William Kaplin

Professor Kaplin spoke on "New Barriers to Access" at the 31st Annual National Conference on Law and Higher Education in Orlando last week. He also facilitated the session regarding the HELPS Scholarship Network. In addition, Stetson's Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy presented the Second Annual William A. Kaplin Award for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy Scholarship. The award was presented to Professor Barbara Lee of Rutgers.

Professor Lake served as co-chair of and a featured speaker at the 31st Annual National Conference on Law and Higher Education, held last week in Orlando. One presentation focused on At-Risk Response Teams, and the other focused on his book Beyond Discipline.

On February 5, Professor Morgan presented her recent law review article “The New Importance of Advance Directives” at a CLE hosted by the Estate Planning & Community Property L.J. @ Texas Tech in Lubbock. On February 12, Professors Morgan and Mary Alice Jackson presented a luncheon session at the University of Texas Annual Special Needs Trust CLE in Austin. On February 18, Professor Morgan spoke about Elder Rights and Elder Justice as part of the Administration on Aging's regional listening session on the 2011 reauthorization of the Older Americans Act.

Stetson Law Excels Nationwide Among Law Schools Graduating Hispanic Students

Stetson Law is again among the top 25 law schools graduating Hispanics in The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education. David Fernandez, president of Stetson’s Hispanic Bar Association, became the first law student to receive the Clearwater Bar Foundation Excellence in Pro Bono Award on Feb. 11.
