Luz Nagle and Roy Gardner
Professors Nagle and Gardner recently participated in "Wetlands in War: International Environmental Law and Damages to Aquatic Resources during Conflict" at the ABA International Law Section Fall Meeting in London on October 3. Professor Gardner was the program chair and moderator, and the panelists were Abou Bamba, the Ramsar Secretariat's Senior Advisor for Africa, Rae Lindsay of Clifford Chance (London), Joe Dellapenna of Villanova, and Professor Luz Nagle of Stetson. Bamba introduced the Ramsar Convention and spoke about the environmental impacts of African conflicts. Lindsay discussed environmental damage claims from the first Gulf War, and Dellapenna covered the draining of the Mesopotamian Marshlands by Saddam Hussein. Professor Nagle gave an excellent presentation on the environmental impacts on water quality from cocaine production in South America.

Mark Bauer
Professor Bauer has given, or is scheduled to give, the following presentations: Sept. 29: Professor Bauer spoke on his Macy's article at the Canadian Law & Economics Association's annual call law school conference at the University of Toronto law school conference. Oct. 3: Professor Bauer will address the annual convention of the National Crime Prevention Council in Atlanta on crimes against seniors and a law school's role in educating law enforcement officers and the public. Oct. 12: The Askew Institute for Public Policy is convening a consumer protection conference at the University of Florida -- the invitees are the state's elected officials. The goal is to get them to commit to an action plan to improve consumer protection, and Professor Bauer will serve as a discussion leader. Oct. 19: The National Federal of Paralegal Associations is having its annual convention in Tampa. Professor Bauer will deliver the keynot speech on Identity Theft.
