Gavrinis Cairn Passageway, Gulf of Morbihan, Brittany, France
A 17-ton stone capstone is the ceiling of the rectangular central chamber. It is decorated with drawings of a bull and other designs. In 1984 it was discovered to be part of the same megalith that covers the cairn at Table des Marchand in Locmariaquer, a site nearby in the Gulf of Morbihan. During the Winter Solstice the sun illuminates this low, narrow passageway and hits the back wall.
