Carreg Coetan Dolmen, Newport, Wales
This simple dolmen was once part of a quoit, a Neolithic burial chamber and rests nominally on four supports, but only two actually provide support. Some believe the capstone models the summit of nearby Carn Ingli. It is located in Newport inside a housing estate. Archaeological excavations uncovered Beaker and Grooved ware sherds and cremated bone. The capstone measures 4 meters in length. The impressive dolmen of Pentre Ifan is a short drive from here.
