
On April 16, the School of Business Administration hosted the Honors Banquet alongside the Stetson Business School Foundation, Inc., an event that gathered staff, students and faculty to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements and community partnerships we have fostered throughout the years.
The banquet began with remarks by Dean Yiorgos Bakamitsos, PhD, and George Shierling, president and chairman of the Business School Foundation board.
Students, faculty and staff enjoyed dinner together before student and faculty awards were presented.
Several students were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements and performance within their majors, with department representatives awarding them for their hard work. For more information on the students who were awarded, check out the banquet program
On top of that, Dean Bakamitsos, presented the faculty and staff awards, recognizing members of the School of Business Administration that have made a positive impact on our community.
Professor Meg Young was awarded with the Outstanding Teacher award, being recognized for her significant instructional contributions in developing our students as productive citizens in their roles as business professionals.
Professor Carol Dee received the Outstanding Researcher award for her significant accomplishments in scholarly activities, having contributed with the publication of scholarly articles in major accounting journals.
Professor Carolyn Nicholson was recognized with two awards, the Outstanding Service award for her contributions toward Stetson as an organization and the administration of business and university programs, activities and committees and the Professor of the Year award, being selected by the dean as a faculty member who has made significant contributions to foster the core values of Stetson University and the School of Business Administration in our students’ intellectual development, personal growth and global citizenship.
Professor William Sause was awarded the Outstanding Innovation award for his success in enhancing student learning through creative, engaging and innovative teaching methods and curriculum.
Julie Holland received the Outstanding Cultural Impact award as a staff member who excels in supporting and maintaining an effective organizational culture in the School of Business Administration.
Renee Cobb was recognized with the Staff of the Year award for her exemplary service to the School of Business Administration.
Finally, Dan Glunt, Milt Douglass and Mario Bofill were recognized with the Community Partner award to honor and recognize their commitment and vital role in successful collaboration that brings the campus closer to the community.
The banquet also honored the eight faculty and one staff member that are retiring this year and gifted them with personalized chairs as a symbol of gratification for their many years of service at Stetson University and their exceptional contribution to our community. These members of the School of Business Administration have been recognized and celebrated further in this article.
