Stetson University’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), the international honor society for Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems, the Lambda Delta Chapter, has kicked off the semester with an ambitious schedule. Championing excellence, responsibility, and ethics in accounting, finance, and business analytics, the chapter has been working diligently to meet the rigorous national criteria that upholds BAP’s legacy of achievement.Â
This semester, Lambda Delta hosted visits from several industry leaders, such as Ernst & Young (EY), Disney, the Bank of New York Mellon (BNY), James Moore, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). For the first time, Stetson’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi partnered with Professor Blair’s Accounting Colloquium class to host information sessions and panel discussion, enhancing opportunities for our accounting majors to engage directly with professionals in the field. By doing such, BAP has been advancing its mission to promote professional growth and networking among its students. Â Â
On top of all the great things Stetson’s BAP is already doing, the Lambda Delta Chapter currently is working toward achieving the national credential of Silver Chapter Status by 2025, which would be a prestigious milestone for the organization. In order to do that, BAP’s members and leadership team are dedicating themselves to a robust schedule of professional events, community outreach, and volunteer service. Moreover, the honor society partnered with Career Services through John Sheehy when setting up the Career Expo, and they also are in the process of partnering with the VITA tax volunteer program in the spring, as well as connecting with the Rotary Club’s outreach event for high school students.Â
This Fall semester, 11 exceptional new members were recruited and officially initiated on Nov. 12. As we move into the Spring semester, Stetson’s BAP chapter will look for more candidates who are committed to pursuing careers in responsible financial reporting and wish to join a distinguished network of professionals. For those interested in becoming a member or taking on a leadership role, please contact Beatriz Vossen at [email protected].Â
In another exciting development, Lambda Delta Chapter members are looking forward to attending the Beta Alpha Psi Mid-Year Meetings in Atlanta for the first time in Stetson’s history. With a strong team of leaders and members, the Lambda Delta Chapter continues to make a significant impact at Stetson University, embodying the values of excellence, responsibility, and ethics in business.Â
