From June 9-29, six marketing students took part in a Study Abroad trip to Scotland, led by Dr. Carol Azab, chair of the Marketing Department.

As part of the Global Marketing course they were taking, the students worked on a consulting project for the University of Highlands and Island School of Forestry (UHI) that aimed to develop ways to reach the Generation Z, to promote the school in the UK, and to improve their website. On top of that, these students also had the opportunity to explore the beauty of Scotland and its amazing culture.  

They visited Tomatin Brewery, the Isle of Skye, the Edinburgh castle, the Urquhart Castle, the Culloden Battlefield — where the Scotland and England battle took place — and they also went on a boat tour with lots of insights on Scottish history and culture. The students also were able to choose between going to Norway or to London during their four-day weekend.  

Overall, the students worked hard on their global marketing class and their project, and they did a fantastic job in their presentation as it was very well received by the client and even put on the school’s social media channels! 

As a celebration for a work well done, the students were treated to a traditional Scottish meal in a restaurant where they got to enjoy traditional Scottish dancing and were taught how to do it. The UHI was a great partner in educating our students on Scottish culture, food, history, and music throughout the whole trip.
