Carol Julian is Assoc. VP for Univ. Relations

Carol Julian, an experienced fundraiser who previously served at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., has joined the Stetson University administration as associate vice president for University Relations and campaign director.

Julian oversees Stetson’s DeLand campus fundraising and alumni relations efforts, including annual giving, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, stewardship, and records and reporting. She succeeds Susan Anderson, who recently retired as the division’s associate vice president.

Julian will organize and direct a future fundraising campaign for Stetson, which is now in the planning stages. The university’s last fundraising campaign culminated with the 125th Anniversary celebration of the university, in 2008. Four new buildings were added to the DeLand campus at the time.

“Carol Julian brings significant experience and expertise in planning and managing comprehensive campaigns and in major gift fundraising and gift planning,” said Linda Davis, vice president for University Relations. “We’re delighted Carol has joined us at this important time, when we will be developing new financial resources to further Stetson’s mission of preparing students to lead lives of success and significance.”

Before coming to Stetson, Julian was vice president for Development and Alumnae Relations at Stephens College in Missouri, for eight years. She worked there with Stetson President Wendy B. Libby, who was president of Stephens College from 2003-2009.

“I am so pleased to be here at Stetson, particularly at this time in her history,” Julian said. “It was immediately apparent to me that this is a special place. I am so impressed by the quality of the students and our faculty, the dedication of the staff, and the direction by Dr. Libby and her cabinet. I look forward to working more closely with the Stetson alumni and other members of the Stetson community as we determine and fulfill priorities for the university. And, of course, I am particularly thrilled to be working once again with Wendy.”

Julian’s experience also includes five years as vice president for Institutional Advancement at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pa., and 13 years in development at Murray State University in Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate education at Marshall University in her hometown of Huntington, W.V., and earned her master’s degree at Murray State.

She is a member of CASE – the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education – and other professional councils dedicated to fundraising. She is a member of Who’s Who in Higher Education. She and her husband, Frank, live in DeLand and have two grown daughters.
