For the past few weeks, Stetson University’s Facilities Management team has been installing new signage throughout campus as part of the university’s campus plan to beautify the DeLand campus.

The need for new signage was identified in a plan that began with the large landscaping project in 2010 that enhanced the Quad/Palm Court area in the center of campus. The new campus signage is part of Stetson’s initiative to improve the appearance of the DeLand campus and increase vibrancy on campus.

“We are very pleased with the look and style of the signs and believe they will help our guests as well as our first year students find their way around campus,” said Vice President for Business and CFO Robert Huth.

Stetson’s choice of style, colors and placement of the signs were considered with input from a broad base of campus constituents. The university received approval from the Historic Preservation Board on all of those components for the signage project. The materials were chosen based on durability, given the harsh UV effects from the Florida sun.

The new campus signs, complete with a fresh look with black, green and white colors, can now be found in front of each building and parking lot, including those for visitors and handicapped. Additionally, campus navigation signs including directional signs and walking directional signs, are strategically located throughout campus. A directional kiosk that includes a rack to hold campus maps was also installed outside Griffith Hall, home of the Admission and Financial Aid offices.
