Daniel Cilli, baritone, will perform Thursday, Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel.

Daniel Cilli, baritone, well-known in central Florida, will perform in an Alumni Recital Thursday night, Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel, inside Elizabeth Hall. Tammy Miller, piano, will also be featured.

“Daniel Cilli is very well-known in Daytona Beach, DeLand and with Stetson alumni, and I know a lot of people will want to hear him,” said Music Professor Jane Christeson, Cilli’s major professor at Stetson. “The program is an interesting selection of songs and arias based on an “Autumn” theme.”

Baritone Daniel Cilli recently performed Don Giovanni at West Bay Opera, Bobby in Mahagonny Songspiel and Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos with West Edge Opera, and Papageno in a semi-staged production of Die Zauberflöte with the Baltimore Symphony under Marin Alsop

A former Ormond Beach resident, Florida International Festival intern, and Seaside Music Theater performer, Cilli was a Vocal Performance student of Norton Christeson at Daytona State (DBCC) from 1994-1997, a Bachelor of Music graduate from Stetson University in 2000 studying with Jane Christeson, and Master of Music from New England Conservatory 2002. Cilli studied and performed Lieder at the Franz Schubert Institute of Baden bei Wien, Austria summer 2001.

While a principal baritone 2006-2010 at Opera San José, Cilli performed the title roles in Eugene Onegin and Il barbiere di Siviglia, and lead roles including Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette, Dandini in La Cenerentola, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Cosí fan tutte, and Albert in Werther.

In concert, Cilli has performed at Aspen Music Festival, Utah Symphony, Tanglewood Music Festival, Pacific Chamber Symphony, University of Missouri, UCSC, San Juan Symphony; and in recital with pianist Temirzhan Yerzhanov at Old First Church, San Francisco. With the Blueprint Project in San Francisco, he performed and recorded the premier of Anosmia by Neil Rolnick. Concert repertoire includes: Brilliant Sky, Infinite Sky (Kernis), Messiah (Handel), Execution of Stepan Razin (Shostakovich), Mass in C and Choral Fantasy (Beethoven), and new works by contemporaries: Juusela, Paré, Scheer, Shore, Stanley, and others

Cilli has performed with Des Moines Metro Opera, Houston Grand Opera Studio, Central City, Utah Opera, San Francisco Lyric, West Bay, Stockton and Amarillo Opera. Some significant opera roles include: Demetrius- A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tarquinius- The Rape of Lucretia, Sid- Albert Herring, Escamillo- Carmen, Schaunard- La Bpheme, Jake Wallace- La Fanciulla del West, Lescaut- Manon Lescaut, Friedrich Bhaer- Little Women and Painter Monk- Le Jongleur de Notre Dame.
