Stetson music major to perform senior recital

Andrew Hunt-music sr.Stetson University music education major Andrew Hunt will perform his senior recital on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m., in Lee Chapel, inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd, on the DeLand campus.

Originally from Greensboro, N.C., Hunt is the son of Allen and Beverly Hunt.

For his senior recital, Hunt will be performing a clarinet piece with Tammy Miller, piano. Hunt’s applied teacher is Stetson’s clarinet professor and coordinator of Woodwind Studies, Lynn Musco, D.M.

During his past four years at the university, Hunt has received numerous honors and scholarships as a clarinetist. He has served as Principal Clarinetist of the Stetson University Symphonic Band and the Stetson University Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in various chamber groups, and performed as a soloist  in collaboration with a number of artists and performed in the 2012 Florida Intercollegiate Band.

A member of several music organizations, he is currently a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national honorary music fraternity. He has served as president, vice president and secretary of the Stetson chapter of the Collegiate National Association for Music Education.

Hunt is the recipient of several scholarships while at Stetson, including the Lewis and Geraldine Schmidt & Charles and Irma Fix Scholarship, the Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, the Tinsley Scholarship, the Presser Foundation Scholarship and the Mattie Kelly Music Scholarship.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Hunt is the president of Stetson’s Gender and Sexual Diversity organization, Kaleidoscope. He has taught private clarinet lessons and assisted in teaching music in local high schools and middle schools. Currently, he serves as a residential assistant and a Band Stage Crew Work Study member.
