“Sounds New” Contemporary Music

On Friday, Feb. 7, the Stetson University School of Music welcomes the public to attend a performance of Contemporary Chamber Music, featuring new pieces written by Stetson faculty composers. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel in Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand.

The composers include Stetson faculty: Sydney Hodkinson, Omar Surillo, Libby Larsen, and Pulitzer-Prize winner John Harbison.

“Performances include many Stetson faculty members such as Kristie Born, Boyd Jones, Marja Kerney, Lynn Musco, and guest clarinetist Shawn Copeland,” said Manuel de Murga, associate professor of the School of Music’s Composition program. “Stetson music student Spencer Jones will also perform.”

General admission is $10, $8 for seniors, and $5 for non-Stetson students. All Stetson students, faculty, and staff receive complimentary admission with a Stetson ID. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/Buy.asp?EventID=103652.
