Amendment 2 is the topic of debate between former Florida Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Bell and attorney John Morgan at a free noontime event Oct. 23 on the Gulfport campus of Stetson University College of Law.

Justice Bell and Morgan will debate the detriments and merits of legalizing medical marijuana during a public lunchtime event. Seating is limited.

WHAT: Stetson Law’s debate is designed to educate voters on both sides of the argument for and against medical marijuana. The Florida Right to Medical Marijuana Initiative, or Amendment 2, is on the Nov. 4 ballot in the state of Florida. If voters approve, the amendment will legalize medical marijuana.

WHO: Bell has questioned whether the amendment might result in putting marijuana in the hands of children. Morgan is a proponent of the medical benefits of marijuana. Stetson Law professor Mark Bauer will moderate the debate, sponsored by Stetson’s student chapter of the American Constitution Society and the Stetson Republicans.

“With two outstanding and knowledgeable speakers, Stetson’s debate on the proposed Amendment 2 will be lively and informative, highlighting an important ballot issue for Florida voters and helping educate the Stetson community,” said Professor Bauer.
