Stetson University student Thomas Oltorik received $10,000 for winning the Cairns Foundation Innovation Challenge with his Quik Clip Invention; a clip that protects valuables while operating a moving vehicle, according to the Ormond Beach Observer.

Stetson University President Wendy. B. Libby, Ph.D., wrote an opinion article April 25 for University Business about college tuition and how to make higher education more attainable to everyone. President Libby states, “We all want to make the dream of higher education more attainable, and soon. Too many students and their parents really have no idea of the true cost of college.”

The April 23 NBC News and more than 200 other national and international news outlets, including Time.com, quote Law Professor Charles Rose in the AP news story, “Police use dead man’s finger in failed bid to unlock his cellphone.” The story originally appeared in the April 20 Tampa Bay Times article, “Cops used dead man’s finger in attempt to access his phone. It’s legal, but is it okay?”

Stetson University was ranked in the top ten 2018 Regional Universities of the South, according to the College Consensus website.

Stetson’s University Assistant Professor of Counselor Education Jesse Fox, Ph.D., was interviewed by Fatherly, an online publication for dads, about how to better connect children to their spirituality through prayer and religious rituals.

Stetson Professor of Psychology Chrisopher Ferguson, Ph.D., was quoted in an article by the Daily Beast on April 24 about the crimes of Nikolas Cruz being a result of video game violence. He states, “We’re not able to find any evidence to support this idea.”

Stetson University graduating senior, Tenor Michael Rodriguez, was set to perform his senior recital at the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, along with a few musical theatre numbers at the end, according to The Daytona Beach News Journal, Local Happenings on April 21.

Stetson Professor of Organ Boyd Jones, D.M.A., was scheduled to perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations on the harpsichord at the Jewish Community Alliance in Jacksonville, according to The Florida Times Union on April 22.

The April 23 GWHatchet quotes Law Professor Peter Lake in the article, “Rising tuition costs push students to pursue three-year track.”

The April 19 Politifact quotes Adjunct Professor and alumnus Adam Levine in the article, “Florida Democrats slam Gov. Rick Scott for defrauding US taxpayers.”

On April 23, news of Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart speaking at Stetson Law commencement in May ran in the national wire, including NBC12.

According to the April 24 Bay News 9, law alumnus and chief assistant state attorney Bruce Bartlett has been assigned as a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission member.

Stetson’s Second Stage Theatre’s “Student Directed One Acts” was mentioned in The Daytona Beach News Journal on April 21 in a list of top activities to go do that weekend.

The April 24 ABC7 reports that Law alumna Anne Stinnett is an Amazing Suncoast Woman.

According to the April 23 Law.com and Daily Business Review, Law alumna Elisabeth Espinosa is running for judge.

Stetson Alumni, W. Theodore Etzel III, CEO of Conditioned Air Co., was on a panel of judges this past February for the Templeton Southeast Regional Business Ethics Case Competition here at Stetson. According to the Sarasota Herald Tribune, Etzel has a large company that works in Naples, Venice, and Fort Myers.

Stetson Alumni, David Maura, was recently elected Chief Executive of Spectrum Brands Holdings according to Your Hometown Stations.
