• Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Studies Jason Evans, PhD, was quoted in a WFTV-9 (an Orlando-based ABC affiliate) article, entitled, “Florida wildlife officials searching for solution after state reports 500+ manatee deaths” on March 29. “[Manatees] are really a unique resource, a native species, a heritage species that we really want to protect,” Evans said.

• Professor of Environmental Science and Studies Wendy Anderson, PhD, published a Guest Commentary at the West Volusia Beacon entitled, “It’s not too late to demand that developers do better,” on March 31. Anderson discussed the problems with the land development industry within West Volusia and proposed steps for moving forward.

• Law alumna and Assistant State Attorney Rebecca White will become the 19th Judicial Circuit’s newest judge after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced he appointed her to replace retired Circuit Judge James McCann, according to a March 31 article on TCPalm.com

• Law alumnus Alexander Metras is a new associate at Banker Lopez Gassler and will be focusing on the defense of personal injury, automobile negligence, premises liability, wrongful death and property damage litigation cases. 

• Law alumna Carrie Ann Wozniak, litigation partner at Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP, has been appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve as a judge on Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal. She fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Richard Orfinger. 

• Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns, LLP announced the continued growth of its Health Care Group with the addition of Stetson Law alumna Danielle M. Gruber. Gruber will be based out of the firm’s St. Petersburg office. 

• Constangy, Brooks, Smith and Prophete, LLP welcomed Law alumna Kelly Holbrook as senior counsel in the firm’s Tampa office. 

• Law alumna Andrea Alderman Keith is the new northwest regional underwriting counsel for North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC), according to an April 6 post on The Title Report

• Law alumna Jeanette Secor was featured on Forbes.com in an April 8 article called, “Treasure Island Hospitality And Dining With Attorney And Hotelier Jeanette Secor.”
